Approximately π weeks old

Abby is now 22 days old and doing fine. Our little girl is smiling when we sing our silly songs to her; when she tries to tell us she is hungry, she does so with such force you'd think she has a built-in bullhorn; and she can lie on her stomach and lift her head to look around already.

And how is David coping with it all? When you are just six years old, getting a baby brother or sister is a big adjustment as you find yourself vying for the limited amount of attention available and unfortunately, often finding yourself with less than you are used to. David is no exception but he is taking it as well as we had hoped and we try really hard to spend some quality time with him one-on-one such as going to see movies at the local (excellent) library while leaving the girls at home. Most importantly, David loves his little sister. They can talk for quite some time. I'm sure he tries to teach her all sorts of naughty tricks! :-)

Cherish This Time (Joanna Fuchs)

The response to our blog and to the birth of Abby from people within the TeX community has been both heartwarming and overwhelming. Andreas Matthias sent us this very nice poem by Joanna Fuchs.

So your baby is here!
What joy and what pleasure!
Now your life is expanding,
To make room for this treasure.

A darling newcomer
To have and to hold
Her smiles are more precious
Than silver or gold.

She’ll demolish your schedule
Though she’s helpless and small;
She’ll make her needs known,
And she’ll rule over all.

See, a new parent’s work
Is just never quite done,
But you’ll never mind,
'Cause it’s all so much fun.

When you hear her cute giggle
You’ll start "aahing" and "oohing,"
And she’ll soon reply back
By "ga ga" and "goo gooing."

Those big innocent eyes
See a world strange and new;
To make sense of it all
She’ll look only to you.

So cherish this time
Of miraculous things
The excitement and wonder
That a new baby brings.

my most wonderful family

we are facing great challeges in our lives and it seems like everyone is meeting them with a smile on their faces.

My beloved Morten. Oh, how I love him. And look, he is on the top of the world, and when I look at these two I just begin to cry, my heart mealts and I smile at the same time because I am so happy to have them in my life.

My big boy. David is so proud to be a big brother, and he is not only proud by taking his role very seriously. Making sure that noone is talking too loud when she is asleep, choosing her clothes and making sure she has something in her mouth all the time.

Me. I am a mum for two most wonderful and at the same time too horrible kids in the world. And no matter how hard it is, I will never in my life change the situation for anything else. Well,,, only if we decide to get the third one.

Our Abby. She is a good girl, waiking me up only 2-3 times a night. That is sooooo good and now we can open the eyes (due to eye infection, only just now she can see the light)
